Charles D. Rambo, a native of Gary, Indiana, stands as an esteemed leader in law enforcement with over 34 years of unwavering public service. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force Reserve, Rambo sharpened his leadership abilities through both state and international missions, embodying a results-driven approach that has defined his career. After relocating to Atlanta, Georgia in 1987 Charles graduated from the Gupton-Jones Mortuary College. He embarked on an extraordinary calling with the Fulton County Sheriff's Office, rapidly ascending from Sheriff’s Deputy to Lieutenant Commander. His vast experience, strategic insight, and relentless commitment to excellence position him as a leading expert in law enforcement operations, legal case analysis, and public safety consultation.

Charles stands out as one of the most highly trained Sheriff’s Deputies, bolstered by an impressive array of training from the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (POST). With certifications as a Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, and Senior Deputy Sheriff, he has demonstrated exceptional mastery across the full spectrum of law enforcement operations. His diverse expertise encompasses SWAT operations, criminal and gang investigations, intelligence analysis, mental health and substance abuse commitments, and dignitary protection. 

Having completed Supervision 120 and Management 120, he has effectively led personnel in fulfilling every aspect of the sheriff’s constitutional responsibilities. Renowned for his proficiency in evidence-based policing, Charles excelled in the Intelligence Analysis course with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, where he delivered a riveting mock briefing that captivated a panel of federal experts. His distinguished experience in dignitary protection highlights his ability to ensure the safety of high-profile individuals, including Oscar-winning actors, Grammy-winning artists, and political leaders, showcasing his unwavering commitment to excellence in law enforcement

As a distinguished Command-Level Field Training Officer and Senior Instructor, Rambo has empowered thousands of law enforcement officers through state-accredited programs that delve into the intricacies of law enforcement operations and administration. His expertise extends to co-facilitating vital training on sexual harassment prevention in partnership with the Fulton County Office of Equal Employment Opportunity.

Beyond his impactful contributions to law enforcement, he has served as an esteemed advisory board member for DeVry University’s criminal justice program and captivated audiences as a guest lecturer (not limited to) Georgia Sheriff's Association, Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College and the Georgia School of Addiction Studies.

Having served three consecutive terms as the local president of Fulton County Deputies Local 453, Charles ascended to the national executive board and was subsequently elected as National Vice President of the International Brotherhood of Police Officers. In these influential roles, he played a pivotal part in shaping public safety policy. Among his many notable achievements, his testimony before the Fulton County Blue Ribbon Commission stands out, where he  advocated for the protection of the Office of Sheriff from potential abolishment.

In his most outstanding contribution in 2009, Charles was instrumental in lifting a federal consent decree over the Fulton County Jail, implementing the highly acclaimed Compstat program, recognized by the Harvard Kennedy School with an Innovations in Government award. Achieving unprecedented 95% compliance ratings, the county jail became a model of transformation as observed by delegations from across the globe and local organizations This achievement solidified his reputation as a strategic problem solver, earning him national recognition and recognition in Law & Order magazine numerous invitations to serve as a keynote speaker on Compstat.
